On Sunday 9th October 2011 Wales favourite weatherman Derek Brockway joined our sponsored Walk in the Park at Bryngarw Park, Brynmenyn

There were three superb routes chose from, varying in length and difficulty. We incorported a traffic lights theme so each of the routes was colour coded RED, AMBER or GREEN.  Entrants were encouraged to wear something in the colours of thier chosen route which added to the spectacle of the day and there were prizes for the best outfits.

The routes were:

RED ROUTE
A one mile walk suitable for all, including toddlers, and is limited to meadow and easy walking areas.

AMBER ROUTE
A two mile walk suitable for regular walkers and older children. This took in part of the Boardwalk.

GREEN ROUTE
A three mile fun/trail run. This was suitable for joggers, trail runners and older children who were prepared to get wet and duck to avoid branches in some areas. It was part meadow, part woodland trails.

All entrants were encouraged to raise sponsorship either for the Lions Club of Bridgend or for their own Charity or organisation and many thousands of pounds were raised for local charities.

Throughout the afternoon there were a number of stalls and information tents.

 

This event was supported by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, Reach and Bridgend County Borough Council.
