The late Lion Bob Cook was Charter President of Chippenham Lions Club in 1974. He was District Treasurer from 1980 to 1988.

The games are held every August at the County Ground Athletics Track, Swindon. Most of the organisation of the day is provided by Chippenham Lions Club with particular help from Highworth Lions Club. However financial support and manpower on the day is provided by clubs throughout the South West, South Wales and the Midlands.

The event is marshalled by AAA Officials to ensure fairness and accuracy. There are events for all categories of disability and the objective is for participating individuals and groups to have a fun day out.

Bridgend Lions are proud to have sponsored entrants from Penybont Gateway Club and Every Link Counts, providing travel arrangements and commemorative T shirts. Exhausted but happy participants are rewarded with medals for their achievements which they proudly carry back home to the borough.

In 2011 we were also assisted on the day by 3 members of our newly formed Bridgend Leos Club
