Swimmafun
This was a chance to raise funds for your own Charitable Group by entering a team in our annual Swimmafun which took place on the 29th April.
Teams swam for either 30 minutes or an hour and as well as having a greta time raised much needed funds for their own group or charity.
Easter Egg Raffles
A number of establishments in the Bridgend area sold chances at £1 a time to win a giant Easter Egg. Each venue raffled a giant egg and for a list of this year's participating venues please see our Easter Egg Raffle page.
The event raised over £800 for our Charity account which will be donated to deserving causes over the next few months.
Book Fair

Our 2012 Book Fair was held at Bridgend YMCA from the 2nd to the 4th March 2012 and raised over £7,000 for good causes.
We had thousands of good quality books including fiction, non fiction and childrens.
Thank you to all who attended, those of you who donated your books and also to the YMCA staff who have been accepting book donations for us over the last 6 months.

New Member
As a long time active helper at our annual charity book fair and other events, Sarah Harris has decided that it’s time for her to sign up and officially join our club.

Sarah, pictured above receiving her membership certificate from President Terry Harris, was welcomed into the club by President Terry who said that Sarah would be an asset to the club and its fund raising activities and he hoped that others would be inspired to join the club in its service to charities and the community.
Sarah started helping the club as a volunteer with St John Ambulance spending many hours at the Lions book sales waiting for a call to attend the sick or injured, which thankfully never came. Not being content to sit quietly practicing her first aid, she started sorting and selling the books so often that she became one of the club’s regular helpers. |
